During my summer internship, I ran energy simulations for homes that participated in the 2010 EnergyValue Housing Awards. Home builders submit detailed applications, from which I collected necessary specifications of the homes and used EnergyGauge programming to analyze. This awards program is partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy Building America’s Builders Challenge, for which a yearly report is written on the winning homes to see what new energy methods are technologies are being applied to homes today.
During my time at NAHB, I gained new skills in excel programming by designing applications and forms to calculate scores for the participating homes, expanded knowledge for building science (design, efficiency, technology, etc.), and organization and management methods for organizing competitions.
